Provincial Nominee Programs Canada

The Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) allow Canadian regions and territories to choose individuals who want to relocate to Canada and are interested in settling in a particular province.

As a visitor applying for a PNP, you should

  • have the abilities, education and work experience to add to the economy of a specific province or territory
  • have the desire to reside in that province, and
  • wish to be a permanent resident of Canada

As each province and territory has its own ‘streams’ (immigration programs that target specific groups) and requirements, they have the right to choose a candidate that matches their particular needs. Each Canadian province and territory (except Nunavut and Quebec) has its own unique Provincial Nominee Program. One needs to apply using the paper-based process or by the online process through Express Entry.

Some PNPs choose candidates who have a connection to the province. However, many PNPs are ideal for those living outside of Canada who don’t connect to Canada’s provinces. Here the qualification is based on one’s experience, skills or any advantage that would benefit the area.
